GANIMAM Runtime System

After starting the GANIMAM (generation of interactive animations of abstract machines) runtime system, you have the possibility to choose the machine type, which you can change at any time afterwards.

You have the choice between:

• the P-machine (a machine for imperative languages)
  In the edit window you can translate pascal programs online by selecting the menu item "Translate". The pascal programs are directly translated into P-machine code, which allows you to test the abstract machine with your own programs



• the C-machine (a machine for the imperative language C)



• the S-machine (a simple stack machine)



• the MaMa-machine (a machine for functional languages)

To execute some demo programs from your choosen machine, select "Load Examples" in the File menu after the main window has been loaded.

Note, that in the Options menu you can set several parameters:

• Animation Mode
• Execution speed (esp. useful for larger programs)
• Modification of Layouts

The system was developed and tested with Win95/NT4 and JDK version 1.1.8. To execute the applets you need a completely JDK 1.1 compatible browser. Currently, as far as we know, only the Netscape Communicator 4.06 (or higher) support this feature.

In order to obtain all the functions of the system (like printing support, saving/loading to/from your local disc) you need to install an special certificate, which makes the applet trusted for the browser.
